Position Overview
Citadel Security USA is hiring a dependable Full-Time Unarmed Transit Security Officer to help promote a safe and orderly environment aboard public transit vehicles and at designated loading areas in Glenwood Springs. This position combines visible security, customer interaction, and proactive observation to support passengers, transit personnel, and public facilities during evening operations.
The ideal candidate is attentive, communicates professionally, and remains calm while responding to a variety of situations in a public setting.
Primary Responsibilities
Public Safety & Transit Support
- Maintain a professional security presence on city buses and throughout assigned loading zones.
- Observe transit operations to help promote a safe environment for passengers, drivers, and staff.
- Patrol designated transit areas on foot throughout the assigned shift.
- Monitor boarding locations for safety concerns, unauthorized activity, or operational issues.
- Assist in maintaining orderly passenger flow during busy service periods.
Observation & Incident Response
- Identify suspicious behavior, safety hazards, or disturbances and respond according to established procedures.
- Notify supervisors or emergency responders when situations require additional assistance.
- Help de-escalate conflicts using professional communication and sound judgment.
- Preserve a calm and reassuring presence during unexpected events.
Customer Assistance
- Provide courteous assistance to passengers seeking information or directions.
- Communicate respectfully with members of the public while maintaining professionalism.
- Support transit employees by reporting operational concerns that may affect safety or service.
- Promote a welcoming environment through positive customer interactions.
Documentation & Reporting
- Complete accurate daily activity reports and incident documentation.
- Record unusual events, security concerns, or policy violations promptly.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding client operations and security-related information.
- Follow all company procedures, site instructions, and reporting requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to exercise good judgment in a public-facing environment.
- Professional appearance and dependable work ethic.
- Comfortable working independently during evening hours.
- Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- Successfully pass all required background screening and pre-employment requirements.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in security, customer service, transit operations, hospitality, or public safety.
- Experience working in environments with frequent public interaction.
- Strong observation and conflict resolution skills.
- Familiarity with preparing written reports and documenting incidents.
- Ability to remain composed while managing challenging situations.
Work Environment
- Primarily assigned to public transit vehicles and passenger loading areas.
- Regular interaction with passengers, transit employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Continuous walking, standing, and routine patrols throughout the shift.
