Position Overview
Citadel Security USA is seeking an experienced Unarmed Security Officer to provide daytime security coverage and mobile site checks in Thornton. This position is suited for a security professional who can take initiative, communicate respectfully with the public, and respond appropriately when safety or security concerns arise.
The officer will conduct interior and exterior inspections, help maintain orderly operations, assist with opening and closing procedures, document incidents, and coordinate with emergency personnel when necessary. Because this assignment includes site checks, a valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle are required.
Patrol & Safety Inspections
- Conduct routine walkthroughs of assigned interior and exterior areas.
- Inspect restrooms, storage areas, parking lots, entrances, and other designated spaces.
- Identify safety hazards, property concerns, unauthorized activity, or violations of established rules.
- Maintain a visible and professional security presence throughout assigned areas.
- Perform scheduled site checks using a personal vehicle as required.
- Report maintenance, safety, or security concerns to the appropriate contact.
Policy Enforcement & Public Interaction
- Explain facility rules and established procedures to visitors and authorized personnel.
- Address minor violations in a calm, respectful, and professional manner.
- Use verbal communication and de-escalation techniques when dealing with tense or disruptive behavior.
- Maintain appropriate boundaries while assisting members of the public.
- Request supervisory, law enforcement, or emergency assistance when circumstances exceed the scope of the assignment.
- Treat all individuals fairly and professionally while enforcing established requirements.
Emergency Response
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies, fire alarms, evacuations, and other urgent situations.
- Follow established emergency and evacuation procedures.
- Contact emergency responders when circumstances require outside assistance.
- Provide first aid, CPR, or Narcan assistance only when properly trained and currently certified.
- Maintain communication with supervisors during significant emergencies.
- Help direct individuals to safe areas when an evacuation or emergency response is required.
Access & Building Security
- Assist with opening and securing designated areas at scheduled times.
- Monitor entrances and exits during assigned coverage periods.
- Observe individuals entering or leaving and report unusual access activity.
- Follow established procedures for securing doors, gates, and designated areas.
- Report access-control issues or unsecured areas promptly.
- Help maintain orderly conditions during opening and closing activities.
Incident Reporting
- Document accidents, safety concerns, rule violations, and security incidents.
- Record information involving individuals who have been banned, trespassed, or otherwise restricted when applicable.
- Maintain accurate digital activity logs and incident reports.
- Include relevant times, locations, observations, actions taken, and notifications made.
- Communicate significant incidents to supervisors without unnecessary delay.
- Maintain factual, professional, and complete documentation.
Law Enforcement & Emergency Coordination
- Contact local police or emergency responders when a situation requires their involvement.
- Provide responding personnel with relevant information regarding observed incidents.
- Maintain a professional working relationship with law enforcement and emergency personnel.
- Follow supervisor direction while awaiting or assisting responding agencies.
- Document significant interactions with police, fire, medical, or other emergency responders.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license.
- Reliable personal vehicle required for assigned site checks.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of supervisory experience in private security, law enforcement, military, or a related field.
- Ability to successfully complete required background screening.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle conflict professionally and use effective de-escalation techniques.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment during emergencies and unexpected situations.
- Strong observation skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining accountability.
- Professional appearance, conduct, and dependable attendance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience in a security-related role.
- Experience coordinating with law enforcement or emergency responders.
- Current CPR, first aid, or other relevant emergency-response certifications.
- Experience with digital incident reporting or electronic activity logs.
- Previous experience handling public-facing security assignments.
- Familiarity with evacuation procedures and emergency response protocols.
- Experience training or directing other security personnel.
