Position Overview

Citadel Security USA is seeking a professional Overnight Unarmed Security Officer to support security operations at a behavioral health facility in Edwards, Colorado. This position focuses on maintaining a safe, secure, and respectful environment for patients, healthcare staff, visitors, and authorized personnel.

The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, exercises good judgment, and is comfortable working in an environment where individuals may occasionally display heightened emotions or challenging behaviors. Successful officers rely on observation, communication, and de-escalation techniques while following established facility procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Facility Security

• Conduct routine exterior patrols of the hospital campus and surrounding property.
• Monitor entrances, parking areas, walkways, and other designated locations.
• Maintain a visible security presence to help deter unauthorized activity.
• Observe and report security concerns, safety hazards, or maintenance issues.
• Verify access to restricted areas in accordance with facility procedures.

Safety & Incident Response

• Respond professionally to security incidents, disturbances, or emergency situations.
• Assist hospital personnel by supporting a safe environment during behavioral incidents when requested.
• Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques whenever appropriate.
• Contact supervisors, medical staff, or emergency responders when additional assistance is necessary.
• Follow all client policies, emergency procedures, and company guidelines.

Communication & Documentation

• Complete detailed activity reports and incident documentation.
• Maintain accurate records of observations and security-related events.
• Communicate effectively with hospital staff, supervisors, and fellow officers.
• Protect confidential information while maintaining professional standards.

Customer Service

• Interact respectfully with patients, visitors, contractors, and healthcare personnel.
• Provide directions or general assistance when appropriate.
• Maintain professionalism during both routine and high-stress situations.
• Always Represent Citadel Security USA with integrity and courtesy.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during stressful situations.
• Strong observation and communication skills.
• Reliable attendance and dependable work ethic.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Ability to work independently while supporting healthcare staff as needed.
• Successful completion required background screening.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous security, healthcare security, hospital, or customer service experience.
• Experience with conflict resolution or verbal de-escalation techniques.
• Familiarity with incident reporting and daily documentation.
• Experience working in healthcare or behavioral health environments is beneficial but not required.

Additional Requirements

• Must successfully complete the client's fingerprint-based background screening.
• Must obtain or maintain all client-required vaccinations as a condition of assignment.
• Ability to comply with all facility-specific onboarding and credentialing requirements.

Work Environment

• Behavioral health hospital environment requires professionalism and situational awareness.
• Regular exterior foot patrols throughout the facility grounds.
• Frequent interaction with healthcare professionals, patients, visitors, and emergency personnel.
• Indoor and outdoor responsibilities in varying weather conditions.
• Overnight shifts require continuous attention to safety and operational procedures.
