- Thursday - Saturday | 5:45 PM - 6:00 AM
- Every Other Wednesday | 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM
- Approximately 37 hours per week
- Overtime may be available when operationally needed.
Position Overview
Citadel Security USA is seeking a dependable Armed Security Officer for an overnight assignment in Glenwood Springs. This position provides security support within a controlled correctional environment and requires close coordination with correctional personnel and other authorized staff.
The officer will monitor assigned areas, observe inmate activity, assist with maintaining orderly operations, document security concerns, and respond appropriately when situations require attention. This role requires maturity, strong situational awareness, and the ability to remain professional while working in a structured and highly controlled setting.
Security & Facility Monitoring
- Maintain an armed security presence throughout assigned areas.
- Conduct scheduled security checks of designated sections of the facility.
- Observe inmate movement and activity for unusual behavior or potential security concerns.
- Monitor assigned areas for safety hazards, unauthorized activity, or violations of established procedures.
- Maintain awareness of surrounding activity while performing stationary and walking assignments.
- Follow facility procedures, post orders, and company security requirements.
- Report conditions that could affect the safety or security of personnel or the facility.
Coordination with Facility Personnel
- Work cooperatively with correctional officers, deputies, supervisors, and authorized facility staff.
- Assist correctional personnel with maintaining order when requested.
- Follow instructions from designated facility personnel within the scope of the assignment.
- Communicate security concerns promptly to the appropriate supervisor or facility contact.
- Support coordinated responses when additional security resources are required.
- Maintain professional communication during routine operations and elevated situations.
Incident Response
- Respond promptly to security-related situations within the scope of assigned responsibilities.
- Assist with maintaining control of designated areas during incidents.
- Follow established emergency and response procedures.
- Recognize situations requiring immediate notification or additional assistance.
- Maintain composure when dealing with challenging or rapidly changing circumstances.
- Notify supervisors and appropriate facility personnel of significant events.
- Take appropriate action consistent with company policy, facility procedures, and applicable law.
Documentation & Reporting
- Complete accurate daily activity reports and required security documentation.
- Document incidents, unusual behavior, safety concerns, and other significant observations.
- Record relevant details regarding security events and actions taken.
- Communicate important information during shift changes and supervisor briefings.
- Submit reports through approved reporting procedures and systems.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive facility and security information.
Transport & Additional Security Support
- Assist with inmate movement or transport operations when specifically requested.
- Help maintain secure routes and designated areas during authorized movements.
- Follow established procedures for movement-related security assignments.
- Coordinate with facility personnel throughout transport or special security activities.
- Maintain awareness of surrounding conditions while supporting these operations.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Personal duty firearm that complies with applicable laws and company requirements.
- Ability to satisfy all applicable Colorado armed security licensing requirements.
- Ability to successfully complete required background screening.
- Ability to work overnight shifts within a controlled correctional environment.
- Strong observation and situational awareness skills.
- Clear verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions, post orders, and facility procedures.
- Professional conduct and sound judgment in high-security situations.
- Ability to work effectively with correctional personnel, deputies, supervisors, and coworkers.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous armed security experience.
- Correctional, detention, military, or law enforcement experience.
- Experience working in controlled-access or high-security environments.
- Familiarity with inmate supervision or authorized transport procedures.
- Experience preparing security or incident reports.
- Previous experience responding to disturbances or other security-related incidents.
- Strong conflict-management and communication skills.
